Forging Artefacts

Based in Wendover, UK, 3minsto9 operates outside the traditional publishing machine. Our philosophy is simple: High Value. Low Volume. Direct to Reader.

We do not believe in disposable media or algorithm-chasing content. We believe in creating tactile, dangerous physical media that respects the intelligence of our audience. We build "In-World Artefacts"—books and zines that feel like they have been smuggled out of an alternate reality, surviving riots and corporate censorship to reach your hands.

Our Protocols

Our studio functions through two highly disciplined design methodologies that bridge the gap between graphic novels and Alternate Reality Games (ARGs).

The Comicsmith Protocol

We approach visual storytelling with architectural precision. Our projects feature highly detailed, "Where's Wally" style cross-sections and raw, DIY punk aesthetics. By employing a strict layering rule with our freelance illustrators, we ensure that the sterile, corporate background of the world can be aggressively "vandalised" by our characters, creating an interactive canvas rather than just a picture.

The Puzzlesmith Protocol

We gamify the page. 3minsto9 books are designed to be played, not just read. We turn our readers into active detectives by embedding a multi-tiered meta-puzzle layer—dubbed "The Game of Unknown"—directly into the art and text. From cyphers hidden in the legal copyright pages to physical code wheels and deductive grids, every detail is a functional mechanic.

We don't use standard "Art By..." credit pages, because that ruins the illusion. Instead, our artists hide their personal signatures as "red herring" puzzles within the dense clutter of the artwork itself.
